Fashion czarina Anna Wintour has reportedly been boasting to pals that she's partly responsible for the shuttering of V Life - glossy spin-off of Variety. Motive: revenge. The V put Gwyneth Paltrow on its cover the same month that Vogue did. Not appreciated.
Wintour thought she had a deal with Paltrow's fork-tongued flack, Stephen Huvane, for a Vogue October exclusive. The New York Post's Page Six says that according to Radar Online, Huvane tried to convince her that V Life didn't figure into their agreement because, despite looking like a celeb-obsessed glossy, it considers itself a trade publication.
Wintour wasn't satisfied and called in a number of her Hollywood chits. And then Variety editor Peter Bart announced that V Life would shut down after its February issue, and Wintour started to sing...
Apparently Wintour is officially denying the crowing, and Huvane denied that Wintour called. Oh, who cares anyway. [
