Broken Lizard going with Beerfest

As whispered over at Aint it Cool late last week, Broken Lizard’s next film will be the intriguingly-sounding “Beerfest”. Warner Bros. Pictures, which has become the Broken Lizards' home studio, is acquiring the project from Sony, where it originally was set up, with an aim to shoot the movie in January in New Mexico, says The Hollywood Reporter. "Beerfest" tells the tale of two brothers who go to Oktoberfest in Germany and stumble upon a super-secret, centuries-old beer games competition, described as a "Fight Club" with beer games. After the brothers are dealt a humiliating defeat, they return to the U.S. and assemble a group of all-star beer drinkers in order to make a triumphant return. The Broken Lizard group -- which consists of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske -- wrote the script and will act in it. Chandrasekhar, who directs the group's films (and also shot "The Dukes of Hazzard"), continues in the same capacity. [Moviehole]
