Christina's album a "concept album"
Having tackled Thai porn, metamorphoses, genies, and the Moulin Rouge, Christina Aguilera will boldly go to yet another place where few pop stars have gone before: She's releasing a concept album.
The reformed dirrrty pop singer will release her third studio album, Back to Basics, a tribute to her musical icons, on August 15. The release goes for a vintage feel with inspiration coming from jazz, soul, and blues from the 1920s-'40s. And of course there'll be that extra "edge," care of Linda Perry.
"This is a concept album that follows a bold, set vision," Aguilera said in a statement. "The touchstones are Billie Holiday, Otis Redding, Etta James and Ella Fitzgeraldā¦ what I used to call my 'fun music' when I was a little girl."
The first single, "Ain't No Other Man," will get introduced to the world on June 8 at the MTV Movie Awards. [Spin]
