Sophia Bush to pick up a hitchhiker

Sophia Bush will play the female lead in Platinum Dunes' upcoming remake of The Hitcher. The movie follows two young travelers whoare tormented by a mysterious hitchhiker. The original 1986 horror classic starred C. Thomas Howell and Rutger Hauer and was directed by Robert Harmon. Dave Meyers will direct the remake from a script by Jake Wade Wall and Eric Brent. Platinum Dunes previously remade The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Jessica Biel and The Amityville Horror with Ryan Reynolds. Sophia Bush will star this summer in John Tucker Must Die. Her other credits include Stay Alive and TV's One Tree Hill. [EM]
